About SOON Token
SOON is the native token of a modular Layer 2 ecosystem designed to scale the adoption of blockchain technology through high-performance execution, interoperability, and decentralised governance. It underpins SOON Mainnet, an Ethereum-settled Layer 2 powered by a decoupled Solana Virtual Machine (SVM), and the SOON Stack, which enables the deployment of SVM-based rollups across any Layer 1. Through InterSOON, a cross-chain messaging protocol built on Hyperlane, the token supports seamless interaction between chains. $SOON is used for network governance, transaction fees, staking, and to incentivise ecosystem contributors. It plays a central role in securing fast-finality settlement mechanisms and facilitating interaction between dApps, builders, and users within SOON Chains. Created by a founding team with backgrounds in Coinbase, Optimism, and Solana, the project combines technical scalability with decentralised infrastructure to support widespread adoption.
SOON Token (SOON) is the native utility and governance token of the SOON ecosystem, a modular Layer 2 infrastructure that leverages the Solana Virtual Machine (SVM) to deliver high-performance, scalable, and interoperable blockchain solutions. The ecosystem comprises three core components:
SOON Mainnet: A general-purpose Layer 2 network that settles on Ethereum, utilizing a decoupled SVM execution layer to achieve high throughput and low latency.
SOON Stack: A modular framework enabling the deployment of SVM-based rollups on various Layer 1 blockchains, facilitating horizontal scalability and customization.
InterSOON: A cross-chain messaging protocol built on Hyperlane, designed to ensure seamless interoperability between SOON Mainnet, SOON Stack chains, and other Layer 1 networks.
The SOON ecosystem aims to address challenges such as liquidity fragmentation and limited interoperability by promoting the adoption of SVM across multiple blockchain environments.
The SOON Token serves multiple functions within the ecosystem:
Governance: Holders can participate in decision-making processes, including protocol upgrades, treasury management, and ecosystem development initiatives.
Native Asset: Used for transaction fees and as the primary medium of exchange across SOON Mainnet and SOON Stack chains.
Incentives: Rewards developers and contributors through grants and performance-based incentives to foster innovation and growth within the ecosystem.
Staking: Validators stake SOON tokens to secure the network's fast-finality settlement mechanism, earning annual rewards, including a 3% token incentive.
The SOON project was founded by a team with extensive experience in blockchain technology and traditional finance:
Joanna Zeng – Co-founder and CEO. Formerly held leadership roles at Aleo, Optimism, and Coinbase, with a background in traditional finance at institutions like Citigroup and BNP Paribas.
Andrew Zhou – Co-founder and CTO. A seasoned developer with expertise in Rust and Golang, and experience in developing Solana clients.
Rachel Chu – Co-founder. Specializes in cross-chain technology and community building.
Ruki Hu – Chief Marketing Officer. Brings experience from top investment banks in Hong Kong, focusing on strategic marketing initiatives.
Frank Miao – Head of Ecosystem. Oversees partnerships, developer grants, and third-party integrations to enhance the ecosystem.
Nazreen Mohamad – Head of Developer Relations. Collaborates with regional communities, such as Superteam Malaysia, to support developers building on the SOON platform.
The project is also supported by advisors from prominent organizations, including Lily Liu (President of the Solana Foundation) and Mustafa Al-Bassam (Co-founder of Celestia Labs).
