Decentralized Finance, also known as DeFi, effectively lets people be their own bank by replacing traditional institutions with trustless, transparent, and immutable code in the form of smart contracts. The sector is the biggest by number of digital assets and is ranked 3rd by market capitalization, behind both the Currency and Smart Contract Platform Sectors.
