Wrapped Chiliz (WCHZ), also referred to as wCHZ, is a wrapped, smart contract version of Chiliz (CHZ). wCHZ was created to represent CHZ as a contract token that can be integrated into dApps that rely on token contracts. Chiliz describes wrapped tokens as pegged to the underlying asset and able to be unwrapped.

Wrapped Chiliz is smart contract version of Chiliz (CHZ). Chiliz explains that because CHZ is the native coin on Chiliz Chain, it is not itself a smart contract token, so wCHZ was created to represent CHZ as a contract token that can be used in dApps.

  • Smart contract compatibility on Chiliz Chain: Chiliz says wCHZ exists so CHZ can be used as a contract token (CAP-20, Chiliz Chain’s ERC-20 equivalent) in applications that require token contracts.

  • Wrapping and unwrapping via the official bridge tools: Chiliz’s docs describe obtaining wCHZ by wrapping CHZ using the Chiliz Bridge interface.

  • 1:1 representation of CHZ value with unwrap support: Chiliz describes wrapped tokens as pegged to the original asset and able to be unwrapped.

Chiliz’s official bridge FAQ and developer documentation describe wCHZ as created within the Chiliz ecosystem to represent native CHZ as a smart contract token for dApp integration, implying creation and maintenance by Chiliz-related entities responsible for Chiliz Chain and its bridge tooling.
