Unicorn Meat is a historic Ethereum meme token created in March 2016 as part of an on-chain experiment exploring token mutation, DAO mechanics, bribable voting, and playful governance design. The original experiment allowed holders to transform one token representation into another, demonstrating stateful token logic and community coordination directly on-chain.
In 2025 the project was revived and modernised through a wrapper that presents Unicorn Meat as a standard ERC-20 for contemporary DeFi integrations. The public site and explorers describe the token as “wrapped and revived,” with contract ownership renounced to fix contract logic and remove privileged controls. This approach preserves the experimental heritage while enabling compatibility with current wallets, AMMs, and contract toolchains.
The token commonly appears as W with a meat emoji when rendered in UIs. It is an ERC-20 on Ethereum designed for simple transfers, AMM liquidity, and programmatic integrations that expect fixed-supply, non-rebasing behaviour.
Network and contract: Ethereum, contract 0xdfa208bb0b811cfbb5fa3ea98ec37aa86180e668
Accounting model: Standard ERC-20 balances with transfer and approval flows
Integration focus: AMMs, portfolio trackers, and dApps that require canonical ERC-20 semantics
Wrapping intent: Present the legacy token line as a stable ERC-20 interface while keeping the historical narrative intact
The wrapper’s role is to provide predictable ERC-20 semantics so downstream protocols can rely on standard balance and allowance behaviour without custom handling for experimental features from the 2016 design.
