Tronix (TRX) began as an ERC-20 token on the Ethereum blockchain, facilitating the initial stages of the TRON project. It later transitioned to the TRON mainnet, where it is now used for various functions within the TRON ecosystem. The project was created by Justin Sun and has since become a significant player in the blockchain space.

Tronix (TRX) is the native cryptocurrency of the TRON blockchain, initially launched as an ERC-20 token on the Ethereum network. Before the launch of TRON's own blockchain in June 2018, TRX functioned as an Ethereum-based token, facilitating the early development and distribution of the coin.

Initially, as an ERC-20 token, TRX was primarily used to fund the TRON project's development and to establish liquidity in the market. It was also used for trading on various exchanges. After the mainnet launch, TRX migrated from the Ethereum network to TRON's mainnet, where it serves multiple purposes: powering transactions, supporting decentralised applications (dApps), and participating in the network's delegated proof-of-stake (DPoS) governance.

Tronix was created by Justin Sun, the founder of the TRON Foundation. The TRON Foundation was established in 2017 to support the development of the TRON ecosystem, aiming to decentralise the internet. The initial version of TRX as an ERC-20 token was part of this early effort to raise funds and develop the network before its transition to an independent blockchain.
