Rain

Rain (RAIN) is the protocol token of Rain, an on-chain prediction and options market protocol built on Arbitrum. Rain supports markets linked to real-world events and other defined outcomes, including public markets and markets restricted to selected participants.

The protocol uses an automated market maker to price and trade positions linked to different outcomes. After a market closes, its result is determined through an automated resolution and dispute process that can include AI-based systems and human review.

RAIN is an ERC-20 token issued on Arbitrum. Project materials describe it as a token for accessing Rain's trading features and taking part in protocol governance. RAIN is unrelated to other projects that use the Rain name or RAIN ticker.

RAIN is mainly used for trading access and governance.

Users must hold RAIN alongside their trading funds to receive Trading Power. Trading Power determines how much of a user's deposited balance can be committed to active positions. It does not provide leverage or increase the user's balance. The amount of Trading Power provided by each RAIN token is set by the protocol and may change.

RAIN is also designed to support governance through Rain DAO. Governance may cover protocol settings, market rules, resolution and dispute processes, treasury spending and software upgrades. The project plans to transfer more decision-making from the development team to token holders as its governance system develops.

Rain's token model also includes mechanisms linked to protocol fees, token burns and ecosystem funding. These mechanisms may affect the token supply, although their parameters can change through project or governance decisions.

Rain allows users to take positions on the possible outcomes of an event. An automated market maker adjusts the price of each position based on trading activity and the liquidity available in the market.

The protocol supports public markets that are open to all eligible users and private markets that restrict participation to selected groups. When a market ends, Rain uses its resolution process to determine the result. Disputed outcomes may pass through additional automated and human review stages before settlement.

Rain was developed by the Rain team. Project materials identify Roy Shaham, Eyal Milstein and Muhammad Wasif as members of its executive team.

The team is responsible for the development and operation of the protocol, while Rain DAO is intended to take on more responsibility for governance over time.
