Question 1

What is Portal to Bitcoin (PTB)?

Accepted Answer

Portal to Bitcoin is a cross-chain protocol designed to enable trust-minimized, non-custodial swaps between native Bitcoin and assets on other blockchains. Instead of using wrapped tokens or third-party custodians, the protocol employs atomic swap technology and a system called BitScaler to facilitate secure, direct settlement. Portal to Bitcoin aims to extend Bitcoin’s role in decentralized finance (DeFi) by making it interoperable with other digital ecosystems.

Question 2

What is Portal to Bitcoin (PTB) used for?

Accepted Answer

The PTB token is the native utility asset of the Portal to Bitcoin ecosystem. Its primary functions include:

* **Transaction fees**: Paying network and protocol fees.

* **Staking and incentives**: Validators, liquidity providers, and lite nodes earn PTB through participation.

* **Deflationary mechanism**: A portion of protocol revenue is used to buy back and burn PTB, reducing supply over time.

* **Governance and alignment**: PTB aligns incentives between protocol stakeholders and supports ecosystem growth.
