Neiro (NEIRO) is a community-owned Ethereum-based memecoin inspired by internet culture and classic meme coins like Dogecoin. The project highlights the legacy of Kabosu (the "Doge" dog) and embraces a community-driven approach, aiming to channel the values of open collaboration and light-hearted community engagement that characterise the memecoin space.

As a memecoin, NEIRO serves primarily as a social and cultural token, used within the community for engagement, support of charitable causes, and community-driven initiatives. The token was introduced to the Ethereum blockchain with a focus on benefiting animal welfare and fostering community-led activities, positioning it as a vehicle for charitable giving and social connectivity. Since its release, Neiro’s community has actively supported animal welfare donations, including a donation to a shelter that once housed Neiro the dog, as part of its broader mission.

The original Neiro project was reportedly abandoned by its initial developer but was then adopted and re-launched by its community, making it fully community-owned. The community initiative was inspired by the involvement of Atsuko Sato, Kabosu’s owner (the original Doge meme icon), who has embraced Neiro as a continuation of Doge’s legacy. Today, Neiro’s community operates the token without any centralised leadership, emphasising its grassroots, collective ownership.
