Question 1

What is Nacho the 𐤊at (NACHO)?

Accepted Answer

Nacho the 𐤊at (NACHO) is a KRC-20 memecoin built on the Kaspa blockchain, inspired by Shai Wyborski’s pet cat, Nacho. This token was launched as a tribute to Wyborski, one of the main contributors to Kaspa, and aims to celebrate the advancements brought by the Kasplex team in developing the KRC-20 standard on Kaspa.

The project was launched on 30 June 2024 with a total supply of 287 billion tokens, all of which were minted in a fair launch process without any pre-allocation, presale, or taxes. The token serves as a symbol of community engagement and decentralisation in the Kaspa ecosystem. Through its tokenomics and fair launch model, it represents the idea of equal opportunity for all participants, embodying the principles of transparency and fairness.

Nacho the 𐤊at is part of the broader Kaspa ecosystem, leveraging Kaspa’s KRC-20 standard—a token framework similar to Ethereum’s ERC-20. This standard ensures the seamless integration of tokens like NACHO into wallets, decentralised applications (dApps), and exchanges built on the Kaspa blockchain. This integration facilitates interoperability and scalability, which are key features of the Kaspa network.

Question 2

What is Nacho the 𐤊at (NACHO) used for?

Accepted Answer

Nacho the 𐤊at (NACHO) offers several utilities within the Kaspa network, aiming to bridge the gap between non-technical users and the advanced capabilities of Kaspa’s infrastructure. Despite its origins as a memecoin, NACHO has evolved to serve as a foundational token that helps introduce the KRC-20 token standard to the wider Kaspa community.

One of the notable features of Nacho is **KatBot**, a KRC-20 compatible Discord bot that allows users to mint tokens directly within the chat environment, making it easier to interact with the Kaspa blockchain. This bot not only simplifies the minting process but also offers functionalities for managing wallets and deploying tokens, contributing to a user-friendly experience for non-technical participants.

The **KatScan** platform is an explorer and insights tool for KRC-20 tokens, offering real-time data on tokens like NACHO. By using KatScan, users can track token performance, explore transaction histories, and check wallet balances. The project is also working on **Kat Pool**, a decentralised mining pool for Kaspa, further promoting community involvement and decentralisation.

The token is primarily traded on Kaspa-based decentralised exchanges (DEXs) and can be stored in KRC-20-compatible wallets. Nacho does not support traditional mining; instead, tokens are minted in batches, with each mint requiring a fee of 1 KAS (the native token of Kaspa), creating 28,700 NACHO tokens per mint.

Question 3

Who created Nacho the 𐤊at (NACHO)?

Accepted Answer

Nacho the 𐤊at was created by the community as a tribute to Shai Wyborski, a key figure in the development of the Kaspa blockchain. The token itself does not have a centralised team behind it and is instead a community-driven project. After its fair launch, all future developments and decisions regarding the token are managed by the community.

This decentralised approach aligns with the core principles of Kaspa, which focuses on creating a fair and accessible blockchain environment. The project has no initial team allocations, pre-minted tokens, or special privileges for early investors, reinforcing its commitment to fairness and decentralisation. The community is encouraged to submit proposals and vote on any future developments.

Nacho’s launch on the Kaspa network was supported by the **Kasplex** protocol, which introduces the KRC-20 standard. This framework allows for the creation and management of fungible tokens on the Kaspa blockchain, making it possible for projects like Nacho to function seamlessly within the ecosystem. Kasplex’s role in handling data insertion and providing open-source tools has been vital for the technical success of Nacho and other tokens built on Kaspa.
