Q: What is Marinade Staked SOL (mSOL) used for?

mSOL serves multiple purposes within the Solana ecosystem: * **DeFi Participation:** Users can use mSOL in various DeFi protocols for lending, borrowing, or providing liquidity, thereby maximizing the utility of their staked assets. * **Trading:** mSOL can be traded on supported exchanges, providing flexibility and liquidity. * **Earning Rewards:** By holding mSOL, users continue to earn staking rewards, as its value appreciates relative to SOL over time. * **Collateral:** mSOL can be used as collateral in various DeFi applications, enhancing capital efficiency.

Question 1

What is Marinade Staked SOL (mSOL)?

Accepted Answer

Marinade Staked SOL (mSOL) is a liquid staking token on the Solana blockchain, issued by the Marinade Finance protocol. When users stake their SOL tokens with Marinade, they receive mSOL tokens in return. These mSOL tokens represent the staked SOL and accrue staking rewards over time. Unlike traditional staking, mSOL provides liquidity, allowing users to trade, transfer, or utilize their staked assets in various decentralized finance (DeFi) applications while still earning staking rewards.

Question 2

Question 3

Key Features

Accepted Answer

* **Liquidity:** mSOL provides liquidity to staked SOL tokens, allowing users to access and utilize their assets without waiting for unbonding periods .

* **Flexibility:** Users can trade, transfer, or use mSOL in various DeFi applications, offering greater flexibility compared to traditional staking methods.

* **Continuous Rewards:** mSOL accumulates staking rewards automatically, with its value increasing relative to SOL over time.

* **Redemption:** Users can redeem mSOL for SOL based on the current conversion ratio, which reflects the accumulated staking rewards.

Question 4

Who created Marinade Staked SOL (mSOL)?

Accepted Answer

mSOL was developed by Marinade Finance, the first liquid staking protocol built on the Solana blockchain. Marinade Finance aims to enhance the utility of staked SOL by providing liquidity and enabling participation in DeFi activities. The protocol is supported by the Solana Foundation and employs automated staking strategies to delegate SOL to validators.
