MovieBloc v1 (MBLV1) was the Ethereum-based predecessor of the current MovieBloc platform. It aimed to decentralise film distribution using the Ethereum blockchain, enabling direct creator-audience engagement and transparent revenue sharing. After migrating to Ontology, the platform retained its core mission while achieving greater efficiency and scalability.
MovieBloc v1 (MBLV1) was the original implementation of the MovieBloc platform on the Ethereum blockchain. It operated as a decentralised content distribution network designed to improve transparency and fairness within the film and media industries. By using Ethereum’s blockchain infrastructure, MBLV1 aimed to empower filmmakers with direct access to audiences and equitable revenue sharing. MBLV1 was later migrated to the Ontology blockchain for scalability and efficiency improvements.
Before migrating to Ontology, MBLV1 served as the utility token of the MovieBloc ecosystem. Key use cases included:
Content Access: MBLV1 tokens were used by viewers to access premium films and series on the platform.
Incentivisation: Users were rewarded with MBLV1 for contributing to the platform, such as by providing reviews or reporting inappropriate content.
Creator Compensation: Creators used MBLV1 to pay for services like translation or to receive direct support from audiences.
Donations: Fans could donate MBLV1 tokens to filmmakers or translators to support their work.
The Ethereum-based implementation laid the foundation for MovieBloc's features, setting the stage for its later enhancements on Ontology.
