Question 1

What is Solayer (LAYER)?

Accepted Answer

Solayer is a hardware-accelerated blockchain designed for high throughput and low latency. It is built on InfiniBand technology, software-defined networking (SDN), remote direct memory access (RDMA), and a multi-executor model. Solayer’s architecture scales the Solana Virtual Machine (SVM) by distributing workloads across specialized hardware and microservices while preserving atomic state transitions. The network’s core innovation, InfiniSVM, aims to deliver 1,000,000 transactions per second (TPS), pushing blockchain performance to hardware limits.

Solayer also introduces a suite of vertical products, including sSOL (a restaking derivative for Solana), sUSD (a yield-bearing stablecoin backed by real-world assets), and the Emerald Card, which allows users to spend their crypto in traditional finance settings.

Question 2

What is Solayer (LAYER) used for?

Accepted Answer

Solayer serves multiple purposes within its ecosystem:

- **Transaction Processing:** LAYER is used as a gas token for executing transactions on the Solayer network.
- **Governance:** LAYER holders can participate in governance, influencing protocol upgrades and ecosystem initiatives.
- **Staking & Security:** The network relies on LAYER for its proof-of-authority-and-stake consensus, where provers stake tokens to validate and secure transactions.
- **Restaking & Incentives:** LAYER supports stake-weighted quality-of-service mechanisms, providing enhanced rewards for securing the Solana ecosystem.
- **MEV & Infrastructure Fees:** Solayer’s validators and hardware-optimized services generate revenue through maximum extractable value (MEV) rewards and infrastructure fees.
