KILT Protocol

KILT Protocol is a blockchain-based system for issuing verifiable, revocable, and anonymous credentials. It operates on its own blockchain, which is built using Substrate, a framework that allows for the creation of customised blockchains. KILT Protocol aims to provide a decentralised infrastructure for issuing self-sovereign, verifiable credentials, aligning with the broader goals of ensuring privacy and security in digital interactions.

KILT Protocol is used primarily for identity verification in digital environments. It allows entities (both individuals and organisations) to claim attributes about themselves, which are then attested by trusted entities. Once these credentials are issued, they can be presented to third parties in a privacy-preserving manner. The use cases extend across various sectors including supply chain, healthcare, finance, and education, where trust and verification of credentials are crucial.

KILT Protocol was developed by BOTLabs GmbH, a company based in Berlin, Germany, founded by Ingo Rübe in 2018. Ingo Rübe, the CEO of BOTLabs and the founder of KILT Protocol, is a seasoned entrepreneur with a background in IT and media. He was formerly an IT Project Manager at Axel Springer and CTO of Hubert Burda Media. Rübe has been an advocate for open-source platforms and served as a board member of Drupal before creating BOTLabs to develop identity solutions on the blockchain.
