KiiChain is a layer 1 blockchain designed for on-chain foreign exchange settlement, stablecoins and tokenised real-world assets (RWAs), with a focus on cross-border financial activity and emerging markets.
The network is built with the Cosmos SDK and uses CometBFT consensus. It supports Ethereum-compatible smart contracts through an EVM environment as well as CosmWasm contracts. KiiChain also supports interoperability through the Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) protocol, allowing applications and assets to interact across compatible blockchain networks.
KiiChain is designed to connect liquidity from US dollar stablecoins and stablecoins denominated in local currencies. This allows foreign exchange transactions and settlement to take place on-chain rather than depending entirely on traditional banking infrastructure and operating hours. The network also includes infrastructure for issuing and managing tokenised real-world assets, including assets linked to commodities, property and financial instruments where permitted.
KII is the native token of KiiChain. It has a fixed maximum supply of 1.8 billion tokens and is used for core network functions including transaction fees, staking and governance.
KII is used to pay gas fees for transactions and smart contract activity on KiiChain. These fees support validators responsible for processing transactions and maintaining network consensus.
KII can also be staked by validators or delegated by token holders. Validators participate in block production and consensus, while delegators assign their stake to validators. Participants may receive protocol-level validation fees, while bonded KII can be subject to slashing if network rules are breached.
Bonded KII also provides voting power in KiiChain's on-chain governance system. Token holders can participate in decisions covering network parameters, validator-set limits and protocol upgrades.
KII can also be used for protocol usage fees connected with KiiChain's RWA infrastructure. Allocated KII reserves may be used for developer grants and other ecosystem incentives. Eligible users of the KiiChain App may also receive a flat fee discount when paying certain service fees in KII.
KII does not provide ownership of KiiChain-related companies or tokenised assets, nor does it provide dividend, profit-sharing, redemption or repayment rights.
KiiChain was co-founded by Danyel Arenas and Alex Cavallero. Arenas serves as CEO and Cavallero as COO.
The wider KiiChain ecosystem involves KiiGlobal S.A.S., a Colombian company responsible for operating KiiChain-related services, alongside affiliated development entities in El Salvador and Colombia. Development and operation of the ecosystem include the blockchain itself, the KiiChain App and infrastructure for stablecoin settlement and real-world asset tokenisation.
