Janction (JCT) is the native utility and governance token of Janction, a decentralised Layer 2 infrastructure focused on distributed artificial intelligence (AI) compute. Built using the Optimism OP Stack, Janction provides a scalable blockchain-based environment for collaborative AI processing, including on-demand GPU access, model execution, and data operations.

The platform integrates smart contracts with core AI functions such as model deployment, GPU scheduling, data acquisition, and annotation. Janction uses a multi-layered architecture to manage resource allocation and validation, combining blockchain consensus with mechanisms such as Proof of Contribution, Proof of Resource, and Proof of Task.

Payments and Access
Users pay for AI services such as GPU compute time, model training, or inference using JCT or stablecoins. Payments in JCT can unlock reduced fees or additional service access.

Staking and Resource Allocation
GPU providers can stake JCT to obtain veJCT, a non-transferable credential reflecting service contribution. This influences task allocation and marketplace prioritisation.

Governance
veJCT holders participate in protocol governance, helping to decide parameters such as marketplace pricing, incentive structures, and funding allocations.

Contribution Rewards
Participants — including data providers, model contributors, and node operators — receive JCT as compensation based on verified contribution, using mechanisms like Shapley value and on-chain scoring.

Marketplace Operations
JCT is used for bidding and settlement within Janction’s GPU Marketplace, where users can request compute power or list idle resources.
