GNOT is the native token of Gno.land, a Layer 1 blockchain built around Gno, a deterministic programming language based on Go. GNOT is used to pay transaction fees and other on-chain costs across the network. The token has a fixed maximum supply of 1.333 billion GNOT, with 1 GNOT equal to 1,000,000 ugnot. Gno.land was founded by Jae Kwon, co-founder of Tendermint and Cosmos, and is developed by NewTendermint, LLC alongside open-source contributors.

Gno is an interpreted and deterministic version of Go designed for writing on-chain programs. Rather than compiling smart contracts into bytecode, GnoVM interprets their abstract syntax tree.
