Glass Chain

Glass Chain (GLS) is a blockchain-based distributed commercial platform designed to address issues within the global optometry industry. Developed by the Singapore Optometry Foundation, Glass Chain integrates blockchain, Internet of Things (IoT), and big data analytics to create a comprehensive service platform. It aims to provide traceability, promote the cultivation of talents in the optometry field, ensure the authenticity of optical products, and facilitate optometry services globally. The platform is built on the Chain199-DeCom system, which uses blockchain technology to optimise business processes and promote data integrity.

The native token of the platform, GLS, serves as the incentive layer for participation and contributes to the ecosystem's functionality by rewarding users based on proof of work and proof of stake mechanisms.

Glass Chain and the GLS token serve multiple purposes:

1. Traceability: Enables tracking of optical equipment and commodities to ensure authenticity.
2. Data and Privacy Protection: Creates and secures personal vision health records through distributed storage.
3. Incentives: Encourages contributions to the optometry ecosystem, including professional services, through token rewards.

Glass Chain was created by the Singapore Optometry Foundation. The initiative involved a diverse and experienced founding team with expertise in blockchain technology and optometry. Key contributors include the Parrot Team, responsible for blockchain development, and industry collaborators such as optical lens manufacturers and seasoned physical glasses operators. The foundation manages the community and funds raised for its ecosystem.

Although 'GLS' was the ticker assigned at the deployment of the Glass Chain Token's smart contract, it is already in use by another asset that has a larger market presence and higher trading volume on major exchanges. Due to this pre-existing association and to avoid confusion in the marketplace, the alternative ticker 'GLASS' has been adopted for this token. This designation is specifically used to ensure that assets are distinctly identified.
