Cysic (CYS) is the native token of the Cysic Network, a Cosmos-based layer-1 blockchain designed to coordinate decentralised compute resources through a ComputeFi model. The network enables GPUs, ASIC miners, CPUs and other hardware to be pooled, scheduled and verified via an on-chain marketplace supporting workloads such as zero-knowledge proofs, AI inference and mining. CYS is used to pay transaction fees, distribute block rewards and incentivise compute providers, verifiers and validators. It also plays a role in the network’s Proof-of-Compute consensus mechanism, where staked tokens and pledged compute resources contribute to security. The network was founded by Xiong (Leo) Fan and Bowen Huang, whose backgrounds in cryptography and hardware engineering inform the design of Cysic’s compute coordination and incentive model.

Cysic (CYS) is the native token of the Cysic Network, a layer-1 blockchain built using the Cosmos SDK that coordinates decentralised compute resources. The network underpins ComputeFi, a model where computation from GPUs, ASIC miners, CPUs and other hardware is pooled, scheduled and verified through a blockchain-based marketplace.

CYS functions as the primary economic token of the network. It is used to pay transaction fees, distribute block rewards and incentivise participants who provide, verify or coordinate computation. The token also plays a role in the network’s Proof-of-Compute consensus mechanism, where both staked tokens and pledged compute resources contribute to network security and block production.

The Cysic Network operates a dual-token model. Alongside CYS, there is a non-transferable governance token, CGT, which is obtained by staking CYS at a 1:1 ratio. While CGT is used for governance and security bonding, CYS remains the liquid and transferable asset used across the network.

Cysic (CYS) is used to support economic activity, security and coordination within the Cysic Network:

  • Payment of transaction fees and execution costs on the network.
  • Distribution of block rewards and protocol incentives.
  • Rewards for compute providers and verifiers executing workloads such as zero-knowledge proofs, AI inference and mining tasks.
  • Staking to support network security and validator participation.
  • Conversion into the non-transferable governance token CGT for protocol governance and voting.
  • Economic coordination within the decentralised compute marketplace.

Through these functions, CYS links compute supply, demand and verification into a single on-chain economic system.

Cysic (CYS) was created by the founding team behind the Cysic Network, led by Xiong (Leo) Fan and Bowen Huang. The project was founded in 2022 and focuses on building decentralised and verifiable compute infrastructure coordinated through a layer-1 blockchain.

Xiong (Leo) Fan is co-founder and leads the project. He has an academic and research background in cryptography, zero-knowledge proofs and hardware-accelerated computation. He holds a PhD in Computer Science from Cornell University and has held research and teaching roles at Rutgers University, the University of Maryland and Algorand. His work has focused on cryptographic systems and the use of specialised hardware to improve proof generation efficiency. At Cysic, he oversees protocol design and the integration of hardware into the network.

Bowen Huang is co-founder and has a background in computer engineering and hardware architecture. He is a graduate of Yale University and has experience in chip design and high-performance computing systems. His work at Cysic focuses on hardware-software co-design and the onboarding of GPUs, ASICs and other accelerators into the decentralised compute marketplace.

Together, the founders combine expertise in cryptography, blockchain systems and hardware engineering. This background informs the design of Cysic (CYS) as the coordination and incentive token of a network where computation is treated as a verifiable and stake-backed on-chain resource.
