Cluster Protocol

Cluster Protocol (CP) is the native token of Cluster Protocol, an AI infrastructure network built on Base. The network combines AI model inference, datasets and GPU compute within a common infrastructure layer. Developers and applications can use it to access AI models, license data and obtain computing resources through a shared interface.

Cluster Protocol provides an inference gateway covering more than 500 AI models across text, image, audio, embeddings and reranking. It also includes a data marketplace where datasets can be stored using IPFS and represented through on-chain ownership records, alongside a compute layer for model hosting and fine-tuning. Payments for these services can be processed on Base, including through the x402 payment protocol.

CP is an ERC-20 token native to Base. It has a maximum supply of 5 billion tokens. The full supply was created at deployment and the token does not have an ongoing inflation or block reward mechanism. Cross-chain transfers are supported through Chainlink CCIP.

CP functions as the settlement token within Cluster Protocol. It can be used to pay for AI model inference, GPU compute and dataset licensing. It can also be used by autonomous software agents to settle payments through supported payment systems such as x402 and ERC-8004.

CP can also be staked for access-related benefits within the network. Holding CP does not provide governance rights over Cluster Protocol or Open Protocol Labs Ltd and does not represent equity, dividends or ownership in the company.

The token provides a common payment method across Cluster Protocol's infrastructure, allowing applications and software agents to pay for different AI-related services using the same asset.

Cluster Protocol was co-founded by Yatharth Jain (the project's current CEO) and Prateek Bhatia.

The network and CP token are currently developed and administered through Open Protocol Labs Ltd, a company incorporated in the British Virgin Islands. Open Protocol Labs Ltd is responsible for CP token issuance, treasury administration, ecosystem programmes and protocol development. Asep Muslih Imamudin is listed as a director of the company, while Jain leads the direction of Cluster Protocol and development of CP.
