Basic Attention Token (Avalanche Bridge)

Basic Attention Token (Avalanche Bridge) (BAT.e) is a version of the BAT token that has been bridged from the Ethereum blockchain to the Avalanche blockchain via the Avalanche Bridge. The "e" in BAT.e denotes that this token was originally an ERC-20 token and has been adapted for use on the Avalanche network to leverage its lower transaction costs and faster processing capabilities.

BAT.e is used within the Avalanche ecosystem, primarily to participate in decentralized finance (DeFi) applications and other blockchain activities. It benefits from Avalanche’s low transaction fees and rapid finality, enhancing user experience for token holders engaging in transactions and smart contract interactions within this ecosystem. The token can be transferred back to the Ethereum network via the bridge, where it can be unwrapped into the original BAT token.

The transition of BAT to the Avalanche network, resulting in BAT.e, was enabled by the Avalanche Bridge, developed by Ava Labs. This bridge utilizes advanced technology to ensure the secure and efficient transfer of assets across blockchains, managed by a consortium known as Wardens who maintain the bridge’s security and operational standards.
