About AEON

AEON is the native token of a payment infrastructure project that connects blockchain-based assets with online services, physical merchants and fiat payment networks. The project supports payments made by users and autonomous software agents through products such as AEON Pay, AEON Checkout and AEON AI Payment. AEON is intended to support network fees, staking, governance, settlement liquidity and participant incentives, although some functions may still depend on future network development. Payments made through AEON’s services do not require the AEON token, as the platform also supports assets including USDT, USDC, ETH, BNB, SOL and TON.

Frequently Asked Questions

AEON is the native token of AEON, a payment infrastructure project that connects blockchain-based assets with online services, physical merchants and existing fiat payment networks. The protocol is designed to process payments initiated by both people and autonomous software agents.

AEON’s products include:

  • AEON Pay: Lets users pay merchants with supported cryptoassets while allowing settlement in crypto or fiat.
  • AEON Checkout: A payment interface and API for Web2 and Web3 platforms.
  • AEON AI Payment: Infrastructure through which AI agents can pay for services such as APIs, travel bookings, digital goods and computing resources.

The system acts as an orchestration and settlement layer rather than requiring every merchant or application to integrate separately with each blockchain, token and payment network. It can route payments between supported networks and connect on-chain transactions with merchant acquiring systems.

AEON is intended to support the payment network’s operation and governance.

Its stated uses include:

  • Network fees: AEON can serve as a common payment and settlement fee asset across supported blockchain networks.
  • Staking: Validators are expected to stake AEON to take part in processing and securing payment transactions.
  • Governance: Stakers are expected to vote on matters such as protocol fees, validator rewards, treasury spending and token buyback parameters.
  • Settlement liquidity: AEON may be deposited into liquidity pools and vaults used to complete merchant settlements across assets and networks.
  • Network incentives: The token can be used to reward validators, liquidity providers and other participants supporting the payment infrastructure.

Some staking and governance functions were described as planned rather than fully operational at the time the available token information was published. The token’s current functionality may therefore differ from its proposed role.

Payments through AEON do not have to use the AEON token. AEON Pay also supports assets such as USDT, USDC, ETH, BNB, SOL and TON across several networks. Merchants and platform partners can select which payment assets and networks they accept.

AEON was co-founded by Eddie Li and Leo Yiyang Li. Eddie Li serves as chief executive officer and oversees the project’s business direction, partnerships and operations. Leo Yiyang Li serves as chief technology officer and leads the development of AEON’s payment infrastructure.

The project began operating around 2024 and took part in BNB Chain’s Most Valuable Builder accelerator programme. In May 2026, AEON announced an $8 million pre-seed funding round led by YZi Labs, with participation from investors including IDG Capital, HashKey Capital, Draper Dragon and Alchemy Ventures.
