"CoinDesk Daily" host Jennifer Sanasie breaks down the biggest headlines impacting the crypto industry today, as bitcoin (BTC) crossed the $72,000 level for the first time.

Bitcoin hits a new all time high and dog with hat has plans for Vegas. You're watching Coin Desk daily. I'm your host, Jen Sani Bitcoin crossed $71,000 for the first time ever during Asian trading hours on Monday. Up around 4% at around $72,100. As of 10:30 a.m. Eastern time, the Coin Desk 20 index is up 3% in the same time period. Founders of newsletter service, London Crypto Club attributed the price rise to the London Stock decision to accept applications for Bitcoin and Ether Exchange traded Notes and the E Liquid Asian market conditions. The UK Financial Conduct Authority opened the doors on Monday for institutional investors to create asset backed exchange traded notes. The London Stock exchange leader confirmed that it would accept applications for Bitcoin and Ether Etns in the second quarter of this year with Bitcoin up over 200% in the last year. Pershing Square Capital Management founder and Ceo Bill Ackman is getting in on the conversation. The billionaire hedge funder previously mostly steered clear of crypto involvement, but now he's saying quote, Bitcoin price rise leads to increased mining and greater energy use. Driving up the cost of energy causing inflation to rise and the dollar to decline, driving demand for Bitcoin and increased mining, driving demand for energy. And the cycle continues and quote Ackman's Post an extra response from the Bitcoin community including Microstrategy's founder and executive chairman Michael Saylor, who offered to speak to Ackman directly on the subject. And the dog with hat community plans to put the meme on the Las Vegas sphere. The meme coin community members are raising $650,000 to pull off the feet. The donation page that went live on Sunday has raised just under half of the target amount. The sphere is a spherical entertainment venue that seats over 18,000 and 600 people and the outside is a gigantic display panel that completely wraps around its dome.
