Dapper Labs, the firm behind the Flow blockchain and NFT platform NBA Top Shot, is pursuing a series of acquisitions. Regulatory filings show it has raised $23 million toward a $71 million goal, with some of the funds being used to purchase a “young, scrappy” company.
Tiger Global led a $17.4 million seed round for Faze Technologies, a startup that creates digital collectibles. Faze also announced its partnership with the International Cricket Council (ICC) to launch a cricket NFT marketplace on the Flow blockchain, where NBA Top Shot captured mainstream attention earlier this year.
Boardroom, a sports media company created by NBA star Kevin Durant and his investment firm Thirty Five Ventures, has agreed to a two-year partnership with Dapper Labs to help create original NBA Top Shot Moments and video content.
The company behind NBA Top Shot and the Flow blockchain, Dapper Labs, has closed a $250 million funding round to an estimated $7.6 billion valuation. Coatue led the raise, including Andreessen Horowitz, Google’s GV (formerly Google Ventures), and Version One Ventures.
