About RateX
RateX (RTX) is the protocol token of the RateX Protocol, a decentralised platform focused on yield trading and the creation of synthetic yield-bearing assets. The protocol separates yield from principal through synthetic Standard Tokens (ST) and Yield Tokens (YT), allowing users to trade, hedge or leverage yield exposure without holding the underlying asset. RateX supports long and short yield positions, liquidity provision across defined yield ranges and the minting of synthetic assets, including principal tokens and assets with specific yield profiles. The system integrates an automated market maker and a decentralised order book, alongside a margin engine, liquidation framework and insurance fund to manage leveraged positions. RTX is used to support governance and the ongoing operation of the protocol.
RateX (RTX) is the protocol token of the RateX Protocol, a decentralised system designed for yield trading and the minting of synthetic yield-bearing assets. The protocol allows users to trade yield exposure independently from the underlying asset through the use of synthetic Standard Tokens (ST) and Yield Tokens (YT). Instead of relying on traditional yield stripping, RateX uses a minting system that creates synthetic yield tokens without requiring a one-to-one deposit of yield-bearing assets. This changes how liquidity and leverage are managed on-chain.
RTX is intended to support the governance and ongoing operation of the RateX Protocol. The protocol enables users to:
- Take long or short positions on yield using Yield Tokens (YT).
- Hedge variable yields from staking, lending, liquidity pools and other on-chain yield sources.
- Mint synthetic assets, including synthetic principal tokens and assets with defined yield characteristics.
- Provide liquidity through universal or specific liquidity pools with configurable yield ranges.
- Trade yield via a hybrid system combining an automated market maker and a decentralised order book.
The protocol also includes a margin engine, liquidation framework and an insurance fund to manage leveraged yield positions and protocol risk.
RateX was created by Sean Hu, founder of Rate Labs. Sean Hu is publicly described as a yield and rates trader and leads the development of the RateX Protocol, which focuses on infrastructure for yield trading and structured yield products in decentralised finance.
