Lode is an ERC-20 token used by the Lode protocol, a Uniswap v4 hook system designed to capture part of the value from the first swap in a block on Lode-enabled pools.
The protocol focuses on top-of-block arbitrage activity. When an eligible swap is the first swap in a block, Lode can apply a premium linked to the arbitrage opportunity. That premium is then routed through the protocol’s contracts and shared between liquidity providers, pool builders and protocol-level mechanisms.
LODE sits within this system as the protocol token connected to buybacks, builder participation and governance-controlled emissions.
LODE is used in the protocol’s buyback and burn process. When the protocol receives its share of captured premiums, those proceeds can be used to buy LODE on the market and send the purchased tokens to a burn address.
LODE is also used for builder staking. Builders must lock LODE to deploy Lode-enabled pools and can receive part of the premium captured by those pools. This links builder participation to the token and creates an economic requirement for launching pools through the protocol.
LODE may also be used in future emissions and community programmes, subject to governance controls. These emissions are intended to support protocol growth, incentives and community participation.
