CoinVertible is a stablecoin initiative developed by Société Générale–FORGE (SG-FORGE), a regulated subsidiary of the Société Générale group. The project issues electronic money tokens (EMTs) — USD CoinVertible (USDCV) and EUR CoinVertible (EURCV) — each pegged 1:1 to their respective fiat currencies and backed by fully segregated reserves held at BNY Mellon (USD) and Société Générale (EUR).
The tokens are available on public blockchains including Ethereum (ERC-20) and Solana, and are designed to operate within both traditional financial systems and decentralised finance (DeFi) infrastructure. CoinVertible is fully compliant with the European Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA), effective since July 2024.
SG-FORGE is licensed by the French ACPR as an Electronic Money Institution, authorised as an investment firm, and registered as a Digital Asset Service Provider (DASP/PSAN) with the AMF. The CoinVertible tokens are aimed at institutional use and financial infrastructure applications.
EUR CoinVertible (EURCV) is a euro-backed electronic money token designed for use in institutional and digital financial activities. It offers blockchain-based access to a fiat-denominated stable asset and is used primarily by corporates, financial intermediaries, and regulated platforms.
Its key use cases include:
Institutional users can subscribe to EURCV by transferring euros to SG-FORGE, receiving an equivalent amount of tokens. Redemption is available 1:1 for euros to eligible EEA-based holders, either directly or via designated partners like Bitstamp.
EURCV is issued by Société Générale–FORGE (SG-FORGE), a wholly owned subsidiary of Société Générale. Incorporated in March 2020, SG-FORGE operates under French regulation as an Electronic Money Institution, investment firm, and Digital Asset Service Provider.
