Payment technology provider Verifone is to support crypto payments through a partnership with crypto payments provider BitPay.

  • Merchants in the U.S using Verifone’s software will be able to offer crypto as a payment option once the system is rolled out later this year, according to an announcement Tuesday.
  • BitPay supports wallets such as Blockchain.com and MetaMask to enable purchases in six different cryptos, including bitcoin, ether and dogecoin, and five U.S. dollar-pegged stablecoins including USDC and BUSD.
  • Funds will be settled in the merchant’s bank in fiat currency via Verifone once the transaction has been approved by BitPay.
  • Verifone provides payment solutions for 600,000 merchants and oversees nearly 10.5 billion online and in-store transactions worth over $440 billion each year.
