Dave Hodgson is the Director and Co-Founder of NEM Ventures and in this CoinDesk LIVE interview he spoke with Leigh Cuen about his fund’s current investment strategy and how he avoided the crypto crash and subsequent winter.

When asked when the alt coin markets were coming back, Hodgson wasn’t optimistic. Be believes that alts will return within the next half decade but not sooner.

“We’re probably talking about three to five years rather than over the next six to twelve months,” he said. “We will see the bigger altcoins slowly starting to decouple as the projects that are building on them start to come to fruition. I think we’re still very early in that cycle and I think a lot of the projects that are being built still haven’t really launched properly and they certainly haven’t reached their potential.”

Hodgson still likes altcoins and noted that Stellar and Waves are definitely doing interesting things in the space. The environment, however, just isn’t ready for a full return to a token-based investment environment. This interview was part of our altcoin CoinDesk LIVE coverage from last week.
