I'm Jen Sani. On this special edition of Coin Desk Daily, we take a look at the intersection of crypto and the upcoming US elections. The crypto industry accounts for almost half of all corporate donations for the 2024 election. A report from the nonprofit consumer advocacy group, public citizen found that crypto aligned companies have spent more than 100 and $19 million so far with most of the funds going directly to Super pacs working to elect pro crypto candidates Coinbase and ripple account for the majority of the donations. According to the report. According to axios, the industry which usually sides with one party over another is breaking that tradition. Fair shake the industry's dominant political action committee has been backing or opposing candidates on both sides of the aisle based on whether or not a candidate is viewed as helpful or harmful to crypto. That's according to a document released by the Republican National Committee. Trump also recently launched another NFT drop and teased the defiant ones on social media platform, Truth. However, messages posted on the defiant ones, Telegram group call it the Trump defi project and the future of finance. While Kamala Harris has not yet shared her stance on crypto. One of her top campaign officials recently said that she's going to support policies that ensure that emerging technologies and that sort of industry can continue to grow. And in response to a Bloomberg article reporting that the Harris campaign is seeking to expand crypto coin based Chief Policy Officer Faryar Shirzad said he's had discussions with the Harris campaign around policy and polling market has become a platform that many in the crypto community are referring to to make bets on the outcomes of events leading up to the elections.
