“Can an astronaut be black?” is a question retired Major League Baseball player Micah Johnson’s nephew asked him one day. From that question Aku NFT was created. Aku is one of the world’s first digital explorers, which “proves that no obstacle is too large,” according to its website. In just a year since its creation, Aku has become the first NFT to be optioned for film and TV.
Aku’s creator, Johnson, and The SpringHill Company Chief Marketing Officer Paul Rivera sit and discuss how Johnson got started in art but also how he was able to transfer that skill into the Web3 space.
The panel occurred on Friday June 10, 2022, the second day of CoinDesk’s Consensus 2022 festival in Austin Texas.
