Tim Swanson is the head of market intelligence for blockchain as a service firm Clearmatics and the former director of market research for competitor and enterprise blockchain solutions company R3.

Swanson joined R3 in 2014 and spent roughly two years with the company before leaving to focus on his consultancy business, Post Oak Labs, which advises tech firms on regulatory issues and provides market analysis among other services.

In 2019, Swanson joined London-based Clearmatics who, similar to R3, builds finance-related permissioned distributed ledger platforms. Swanson had been on the company’s advisory board since its founding in 2015.

Swanson is also the author of two blockchain-related books. “A Great Chain of Numbers” and “The Anatomy of a Money-like Informational Commodity” examine smart property such as autonomous contracts and the inner workings of bitcoin.
