Jameson Lopp

Updated Jan 26, 2024 at 7:19 p.m. UTC

Jameson Lopp is a bitcoin developer and the chief technology officer (CTO) at crypto custody startup Casa, which offers key management services, hardware wallets and the Casa Node for Lightning.

Lopp authors articles, shares presentations and provides a page of curated bitcoin resources on his personal website. He worked for institutional-grade crypto custody company BitGo before joining Casa in early 2018. Lopp began as an infrastructure engineer with Casa and was elevated to CTO later that year.

In 2017, Lopp was the victim of a ‘swatting’ incident when someone called the police and falsely reported that there was a hostage situation at his home, triggering the arrival of a SWAT team and other police units. He subsequently moved ‘off the grid’ and took extensive measures to protect his privacy.
