Born in 1972 in London, UK and raised in Athens, Greece, Andreas Antonopoulos is a technologist, bitcoin advocate and the author of Mastering Bitcoin, a bitcoin guide book. He is also a speaker and an educator in the cryptocurrency space. Antonopoulos was also a host on the Let’s Talk Bitcoin podcast.
In 2014, Antonopoulos became the chief security officer (CSO) of Blockchain - a wallet and information service company for cryptocurrencies. The company grew into a multinational corporation under Antonopoulos’ tenure, during which he specifically focused on risk management while creating enhanced security practices. After the company’s rapid growth, Antonopoulos moved from CSO to being an advisor on the board of the company. During the same year, Antonopoulos also joined the e-commerce company CoinSimple as an advisor on its board.
In 2014, Antonopoulos unveiled Mastering Bitcoin, a technical guide written about bitcoin for programmers and computer scientists interested in the technology. His second and third books, The Internet of Money 1 & 2, offered an explanation as to why bitcoin matters and were intended for a broader audience. In 2018, Antonopoulos released his third book, Mastering Ethereum, a technical guide of the ethereum blockchain intended for coders to learn how to use and develop smart contracts and decentralized applications.
