Established in 1855 as the Federal Polytechnic School, ETH Zurich is a public university in Switzerland. It offers two research centers, conferences and industry partnerships.

The ICE Center, an R&D center at the intersection of computer science and engineering, and the ETH Blockchain Initiative engage in blockchain research. Researchers have published 100 influential blockchain papers between 2019 and 2022, with 1,838 total citations.

In addition to research, ETH showcases its blockchain efforts through initiatives and conferences such as the Oxford Saïd and Risk Center at ETH Zürich Macro-finance Conference 2022 – Money, Liquidity, and Financial Stability, co-organized by the No. 26-ranked school, University of Oxford Said School of Business. On a smaller scale, ETH Zurich has also hosted talks and events for their students such as the KOF-ETH-UZH International Economic Policy Seminar in collaboration with the KOF Swiss Economic Institute, which is a hub of all the think tanks of Switzerland, and the No. 3-ranked University of Zurich.

On the industry side, ETH Zurich partners with the Web3 Foundation and the Concordium Foundation to continuously promote blockchain innovation and development.
