CUHK offers a bachelor of engineering in financial technology, and a master of science in financial technology through its Faculty of Engineering. The master's requires the Applied Blockchain and Cryptocurrencies course. For working professionals, CUHK also offers a Blockchain For Business Executives certificate through its executive education program. The aim of this program is to provide a "broad understanding of blockchain as a technology and also as a business transformation enabler."

In 2021, CUHK partnered with Ethereum developer ConsenSys to launch the Medoxie COVID-19 Digital Health Passport, using blockchain technology to record all COVID-19 related events, including test results, temperature checks and vaccinations in a decentralized, private, and secure manner.
