Citi Returns as Title Sponsor for Consensus 2017
CoinDesk is delighted to welcome Citi back as a title sponsor for Consensus 2017, our third annual blockchain technology summit.
As one of the largest global banks with 205 years of industry expertise and operations in more than 160 countries and jurisdictions, Citi has taken a multi-disciplinary approach in working with blockchain technologies. Citi is exploring ways that blockchain technology can drive efficiencies, reduce costs and create new business models and markets.
Vanessa Colella, head of Citi Ventures and chief innovation officer at Citi, said of the sponsorship:
“Consensus provides a unique opportunity to bring together key cross-sector stakeholders who are building capabilities and exploring the possibilities of blockchain beyond bitcoin and P2P payments. Collaborating with and learning from others is critical to advancing this network technology.”
Citi was among the first financial institutions to explore digital currencies and blockchain, issuing early reports on the potential impact bitcoin could have on payment processors and experimenting with cross-border payments.
Citi is taking a strategic and incremental approach to understand both the opportunities and the risks that this disruptive new technology presents across its businesses. The focus includes identifying strategic, feasible and commercial use cases that leverage this technology’s unique capabilities for institutional payments.
Ryan Selkis, CoinDesk Managing Director, said:
"Citi's support for CoinDesk's inaugural conference helped kick-start our entire events portfolio, and we are grateful to have the opportunity to work with their terrific team on another great event."
"This year's summit will be five times the size of our initial collaboration with Citi, a sign of the staggering growth we've seen in the broader blockchain community. We're looking forward to making Consensus 2017 the best global blockchain event to date," he added.
Consensus 2017 is expected to host 2,500 leaders from a wide variety of industries, including blockchain startups, financial & insurance institutions, technology companies, healthcare companies, and many more. It will include two-and-a-half days of in-depth discussions and workshops.
There will be two primary tracks, ‘Business’ and ‘Technical & Policy,’ which will expose opportunities and challenges that small and large institutions experience regarding application development in smart contracts, identity and device management, cybersecurity, global payments, and clearing and settlement.
There will also be an “Implementation Workshops” track that runs throughout the event.
